AWS Datacenter Lit Ablaze by “Objects” in UAE, Amid Other Outages in Region at War

Amazon says “objects” struck a data center in its UAE region (ME-CENTRAL-1), throwing sparks and starting a fire. Almost certainly due to the ongoing war. Separately, another data center is offline due to a "localized power issue."

Behind every journey on #Supertram in South #Yorkshire is the work of the Presentation Team, which maintains trams, stops, shelters and #infrastructure to keep the network safe and welcoming. Alongside routine duties, the team carries out periodic deep cleans. Recently, a Siemens tram underwent a two-day programme in the workshop, beginning with a detailed inspection and structured plan to avoid service disruption. Specialist equipment, including new chewing gum removal machinery, was used to tackle hard-to-reach areas. Overhead panels and signage were removed and cleaned, seat bases dismantled, stair edging resealed, and floors, cab and exterior thoroughly treated. The project brought together engineering and facilities staff, with Managing Director Sean English joining the work. It forms part of an ongoing programme to maintain standards across the 30-year-old fleet ahead of new trams expected in 2030, subject to funding, alongside wider stop refurbishments. https://www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/en-gb/news/supertram-presentation-team

The #UK and #Malaysia have strengthened cooperation on sustainable transport through the inaugural UK-Malaysia Green #Transport Dialogue in Kuala Lumpur on 10–11 February 2026. Organised by the British High Commission, Malaysia’s Ministry of Transport and the Malaysia Rail Development Corporation, the event brought together policymakers and industry leaders to discuss policy, planning, technology and best practice in low-carbon transport.
